Paper Players #94 {Celebrate Today Mom} and Stamping 411

Here's the Pinterest Link
And here's the original Photo Source

Sunday is here and so is another fun challenge from the Paper Players. This week Nance is our hostess, she is looking for a card for mom using this awesome photo for inspiration from Pinterest! I was immediately inspired by the colours and the flags on the cupcakes.   I turned my ribbon into little flags shooting out from the flower. I also loved the sketch over at Stamping 411, and used that for my card but flipped the sketch.

At the bottom of my card, where I stamped the sentiment, I added two lines using the Big Shot and the Textured Impressions embossing folder.  I also cut the bottom of that panel with the matching die cut called "Edgelits Adorning Accents". This was my first time using these! How fun!!!

Here is my card, made for mom! I think she will like it! I have made a couple other mom cards too...LOL! I think I will see if anyone at work needs one!

{Supplies Used-All SU!)
Stamps: Triple Treat Flower, Perfectly Penned
Inks: Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight
Papers: Summer Smooches (DSP), Regal Rose and Whisper White
Extras: Punches for the flower, White Organza Ribbon, Pearls, Edgelits Adorning Accents, Big Shot, Textured Impressions Embossing Folders

We hope that you will join the Paper Players Challenge this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!  Welcome to Narelle, our Guest Designer for May!!

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.  I have been stamping up a storm tonight, I wanted to make some special little cards for friends and family.  I was looking for inspiration when I found the Colour Q Challenge and the Stamping 411 Sketch.

I made a birthday card for my sister in law, a "For You" card for a work colleague, a simple "hello" card and a "Because I Care" for a friend.

Thanks for stopping by! Any questions, please leave me a comment and I will answer them for you if I can.

Stamping 411-Leaves of a Tree

The summer has flown by and I am sad to say, I didn't get the opportunity to stamp that much!  But now that school is back in and I am working, I am finding more time to stamp which is wonderful!

Stamping 411 has a great sketch this week and I have missed playing their challenges!  So today I decided to play along!  I tried to make the circle work but just couldn't make it work for what I had in mind.  I noticed that some of their DT didn't use the circle either, so I decided to go for it!!!

I used an Emboss Resist technique to create my card and the new Leaves of a Tree stamp that is on the back page of the holiday mini catalogue.  Although this card did not come out as I had imagined, I am so happy I got the chance to play along with the gals at 411.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Colour Dare #104 and Stamping 411

It is Wednesday which means another great colour challenge from Colour Dare!  I also decided to play along with Stamping 411 which I have not had the chance to play along with in such a long time!!  I loved their sketch this week and knew I had to play along, I hope they do not mind I combined these two challenges!!!

This week at the Colour Dare, Riley has put together three beautiful colours!!!

Baja Breeze
Not Quite Navy
Cajun Craze

I decided to ink up a retiring set called "All Holidays".  The sentiment comes from that set and it is one of my favourites!  I also inked up the "Charming" set.  I used a Baja "Glimmer brad" in the centre of my circle.

Thanks for stopping by!!!  I hope you get the chance to play with us this week at the Colour Dare!!

Stamping 411 and Pals Paper Arts

The Stamping 411 team and the Pals Paper Arts team both have a terrific challenge happening this week!  First I looked at the 411 sketch and thought, wow!  I need to try this.  So I went to work, sketching it out and trying to create a card to fit the cool design.  I inked up my new Four Frames stamp set again and also used some of my new Designer Paper called Paisley Petals.  I actually took my colour combo from the new designer paper.

The colours I chose are Cajun Craze, Marina Mist and Pear Pizzazz.  Not a usual colour choice for me but one that I am really happy with! This sketch really pushed me out of my comfort zone and I am not sure if I am sold on what I created, but that is probably because it is something different that my usual style.

Over at Pals Paper Arts, they are challenging us to use Punches!  Punches are my favourite tools, and I used a few on this card.

I used:
The Decorative Label Punch
The Itty Bitty Punch Pack
The Bird Punch
The Scallop Edge Border Punch

Thank you for stopping by!  I appreciate your comments so much!  I hope you enjoyed my creation and get the chance to get crafty yourself today!!!

MDS for the Stampin' 411 Challenge

I love working with My Digital Studio!  I purchased the Strength and Hope Digital set.  It is very pretty!  So tonight, I decided not to make a card but a scrapbook page instead!  I used the great sketch from the Stampin' 411 team and changed it up a bit.  The ribbon is replaced by a piece of designer paper and I didn't realize I had missed the 3 brads...that is what I get for going by memory!  I am still trying to figure out this program!

I have to say, I love that I can use this program, create a page and have no mess to clean up!! LOL!  The Strength and Hope set is to promote Breast Cancer awareness, partial proceeds go to cancer research.

Thanks for stopping by!

All supplies are Stampin' Up:
Stamps: Strength and Hope Digital Set
Inks: Baja Breeze, Rose Red, Old Olive, Whisper White

Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge #194

It's official!  Spring Break is here!  I have two weeks to spend on stamping and creating.  I also need to do some spring cleaning both at home and in my classroom.  I am excited about all the things I hope to accomplish!
My card today is one that I created this morning.  Last night I found the new Stamping 411 Sketch and throughout the night, my brain was whirling with ideas!  I decided to think "outside the box" and created a card that used my punches.  I still had some Poppy Parade Cardstock and some Basic Black pieces left on my craft table, so I went to work.

Here is what I created:

I created my own Paper Lanterns with little white flowers.  The lanterns are created using the 1 1/4" circle punch, then I used my crimper to make them look more like Paper Lanterns.  The little flowers are created with the Itty Bitty Punches...love 'em!  I used the scallop ribbon punch to add a strip of black to the bottom of the card.  The "Just for You" sentiment is from the hostess level 1 set called "Afterthoughts".

Thanks for stopping by!

All supplies are Stampin' Up:
Stamps: Afterthoughts (Hostess Level 1)
Inks: Basic Black
Paper: Poppy Parade, Basic Black and Whisper White
Tools: 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Crimper, Linen Thread, Ribbon Punch, Bitty Punch Pack, Jewels

Stamping 411- I've Got a Crush....

I've got a new CRUSH!  I wanted to make a card for the current sketch at the Stamping 411.  I had some Garden Green DSP in my stash from a Hostess Set long ago.  What first started this card I was  thinking, I never use Concord Crush, I need to try that!  SO I did!  Wow!  Do I EVER like that colour!  SO yes, I have a new crush!!  I also used the "Friends Never Fade" set for my pal Trudy!!  I know that she "hearts" it!!

The card was very easy to put together and I am happy with the Garden Green and Concord Crush colours together!  I used my markers to ink up the "Friends Never Fade" stamp in two colours.  That is why I love the markers!!!

The scallop square in the middle is from the Scallop Square Die and the sentiment is from a Sale-A-Bration set from last year!  The button is from my Christmas Stash!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lesley

PS  I have created my very own blog banner using MDS!!!  Eek!!  So much fun!  Please let me know what you think!! (thank you!!)

Time Well Spent

Today I have a card to share that I created for three different challenges, hence my title, "Time Well Spent":

Stacey's Curtain Call Colour Challenge-So Saffron, More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake
Stamping 411 Sketch
Pals Paper Arts-Scallops

The colours were right up my alley and I knew I wanted to make a distressed, sponged card with the warm yellows and red.  I also wanted to use the simple sketch at Stampin' 411 to be a jumping off point.  My scallops are created with the scallop edge border punch and the matching corner punch.  I love those punches!

My card measures 5"x5" as I wanted to create a square card using the sketch.  I have to admit, this card did not come together for me as I had envisioned it?  I think I needed to change the card base but I decided to post it anyway, sometimes a card will grow on my even if initially I didn't like it at first!  Does that ever happen to you?

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Club- Wednesday, February 23 and Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge

I have my Stamper's 6 Club on Wednesday and this week we will be learning a brand new technique called "Black Magic".  This technique is also refered to as the "Chalkboard" technique because it uses Chalks/Pastels on black or dark paper.

I used the great sketch from Stamping 411 for the first card I made with the black magic technique!!  I love the Stamping 411 sketch challenge site because they have so many great ideas, tips and simple sketches that allow you to be creative!!!!

Here is their sketch:

Here is the card I created!  I elongated the panel and change the height of the card.  I used the wonderful "Just Believe" set for both of my cards, the solid image makes it the perfect choice for the Black Magic Technique.  The Old Olive Designer Paper is from the Bold Brights Designer Paper Pack.

Thanks for stopping by!!  I sure hope my Club ladies like the cards we are going to make this week!!!

Lesley

Stamping 411 and Colour Dare

Wow!!  I was amazed to see that I reached 100 readers today! What a wonderful thing, to see that 100 today! I did a happy dance!  Thank you to everyone who comes to visit my blog.  I never knew about the reader program until a gal emailed me and asked if I had it hooked up to my blog!!  So thank you for challenging me to learn new stuff like that and for stopping by in your busy day to visit me!

As you know, one of my most favourite challenges is Stamping 411.  I love their sketches and this week they have a great one!  I changed one element of the sketch! Instead of the Modern Label Punch at the bottom left hand corner of the card, I used the Little Leaves die and made that my accent.  I also used the colours from the current Colour Dare.  I'll admit, it was tough but I am happy with how they turned out!!  Tempting Turquoise, Pear Pizzazz and Tangerine Tango.

I used the leaves as the main focal point of my card and added some little flowers with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack!  The sentiment is from Fabulous Phrases once again and I made my own tag!!!  Do you know how I did that?  I got this terrific idea from Brenda over at her blog QBee's Quest.  Click HERE to see her post!!  Such a clever idea!!!  She is calling it her 'Decorative Label Punch Mini Label".

I added some pearls to each little flower I punched out and I used some retired paper from the Sweet Pea DSP pack from last year.  I used the "de"-bossed side of the finial press embossed paper...I like how it looks!  I thought this would be a different kind of Valentine's card!!  We do Christmas cards in non-traditional colours, why not a Valentine Card?

Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge

Wow!  December 27th already!  It has been at least three weeks since I last made a card!  I wasn't in the mood to create but after a refreshing week off and some time with my family, I felt re-inspired once again!  I got out some new goodies and decided to make a special birthday card for my mommy.  She is turning 60 on February 1st but I wanted to get a head start on her card as she is heading on a trip with my dad for her 60th!!

The sketch from Stamping 411 this week was clean and simple...I love to make square cards and this one measures 5"x5".  Below is the card I created from the sketch using some of the sweet valentine paper that is in the Valentine Bundle available right now.  I love it!!  I also used a new flower die that is coming out in the new Mini Occasions Catalogue and one of the big buttons with some linen thread!!!

I thought I would add a photo of Rolley too!  He came with us on the drive to my parent's home for Christmas.  We put his bed in the back of the 4runner and he LOVES it!!  He is all excited to go and then as soon as the car ride starts, he lays down and goes to sleep.  It is like taking a baby for a ride in the car to calm the baby down.  Does the same for Rolley.  LOL!

Look at that cute face!!  We think he has a bit of Border Collie in him because of his nose.  See those freckles?  He is so sweet and gives lots of kisses and cuddles.  He is really puppy like and does silly things like let out a little bark and run around the room like a nut!  Hahahaha!  He is a doll.  I'll say in a loud voice, "Well I am off to bed now" and he races down to our bedroom ahead of me and is laying beside the bed, ready to sleep.  It is SO cute!!!  He takes turns throughout the night sleeping on the floor beside Corey's side of the bed and then beside my side of the bed.  When he sleeps, he will once in a while murmur or make a little noise and it sounds like a motor revving up or a card speeding by!  What a dog!

Well that is it for me tonight.  I hope to play along again tomorrow with some of my other favourite challenges!!  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!! We sure did!

Smiles,
Lesley
