Just For You {SSS, Butterfly Reflections Ink & FMS}

Saturday! Hooray! Here I am, up early so I can craft before I roll up my sleeves and get started on the housework! I was intrigued by the great sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, the mood board at Butterfly Reflections Ink and the birthday challenge over at Simon Says Stamp! So I put together a Spring birthday card for my stash!

I was so happy to find a My Favorite Things set called Modern Blooms at a local store. I had this set on my wishlist! I've had the set for a couple of months but this is the first time I have inked it up!

I scattered the flowers and the leaves...letting the aqua colour be my "main" focal point. I accented everything with black ink...to help it pop and finished my card off with a sweet sentiment from Verve. I heat embossed it white onto black paper. To add some visual interest, I used my Swiss Dots folder from Cuttebug. It's an oldie but one of my favourites!

Merry Monday & Freshly Made Sketches {Joyous Season}

Happy Saturday! The day has ZOOMED by as Saturdays usually do! I have been a good girl; laundry is washed and folded, dinner is cooking in the crockpot and my kitchen is gleaming. So I came downstairs to make a card.

There are two challenges I have been excited to play along with all week! One is Freshly Made Sketches using a fantastic sketch by my pal, Jen Mitchell and the other is a floral challenge over at Merry Monday by my other crafty pal, Bonnie Klass.

I made a clean and simple card using the Hardwood background stamp from SU! and a sentiment stamp from My Favorite Things. I think it is my favourite Christmas sentiment stamp set! I mixed this with some stitched ribbon in my stash and a button...all very simple to put together and now I have another Christmas card for my stash! Hope you are crafting today!

Cure for the Monday Blues & Viva la Verve {Thinking of You}

I had the chance to get inky today and I decided to play along with Viva la Verve Sketches! I inked up some wildflower images in Baked Brown Sugar and then stamped them onto some pattern paper. I used some washi tape to hold down the middle square as suggested and used the "skewed" piece as a corrugated piece...created with my crimper. The butterflies were created with three layers...one layer of pattern paper, one layer of vellum and a smaller vellum butterfly. The vellum has a pink sheen on it.

I was also inspired by Taheerah Atchia and her challenge called "Cure for the Monday Blues". This challenge photo gave me the jumping off point for my colour choices...a neutral base with some notebook paper...to go with the desk and some washi...which is piled up on one corner. I also loved the clear vellum paper in the photo that the orange wording is on...which was the inspired for my butterflies.

{Supplies Used}
Stamps: My Favorite Things (Wildflowers)
Inks: Baked Brown Sugar, Black
Papers: MME, Kraft
Extras: Recollections Washi Tape, SU! Butterfly Punches, Pearls, Crimper

The Challenge #7 {Watercoloured Thank You}

Here are the Sketch Measurements:
Card Base- 4" x 5.5"
White Panel- 3.5" x 5.5"

Happy Monday! This week, for Sketch #7, I am leaving the layers behind and tackling watercolouring...for my mom! Yep, she told me yesterday that she wished I would make some watercoloured type of cards...so I went to work with my Tim Holtz distress inks and some pretty new stamps from My Favorite Things. I inked up each stamped image with layers of colour...so they would bleed into eachother. I am so happy with how it turned out.

{Supplies Used}
Stamps: My Favorite Things (Wildflowers)
Inks: Tim Holtz
Papers: SU! Rich Razzleberry, White
Extras: NONE

I went through about 9 pieces of paper...NINE, before I got the combo of ink and stamped images I wanted...such a waste (don't worry I recycled).

Say Watt? card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things

I also asked my pal, Lori Tecler to join me this week and to design something with the sketch! Love her "brilliant" card- isn't it adorable!

CASE this Sketch & CASE Study {Hello, Hello, Hello}

Hooray! Long weekend. I need it. I am sure we all do!

Today I am sharing a card I made for CASE this Sketch & CASE Study. I loved all the white and the bold pop of colour on Wida's card. I wish I had a word die but alas, not yet. I am saving up for some new goodies. Soon I hope! So to achieve the texture of her card, I used my favourite handwriting embossing folder and a lacy oval die from My Favorite Things. I repeated the handwritten sentiment three times and inked up the silhouette stamps with my Tim Holtz inks.

I hope you get the chance to get crafty this weekend. I am hoping to play in my craftroom for at least one of the days.

Seize the Sketch #20 {Joyous Season}

To see my Paper Sweeties Post...please CLICK HERE.

Wow, two weeks have FLOWN by and we are sharing another sketch at Seize the Sketch! This time I am the sketcher and I hope you will enjoy my sketch. We have a few changes over at Seize the Sketch. We have some designers leaving and some new designers joining us. Come on over to the Seize the Sketch blog to see what is happening.

My sketch is fairly simple and I decided to keep it monochromatic to keep it on the cleaner side. I inked up an older MFT Christmas set and decided to get out a Lil' Inker snowflake die. My paper comes from the Upsy Daisy paper company but they are now closed. It was hard to cut into this pretty paper but I loved the soft blue colour with the navy & white combo.

I am trying to play with my photography skills and this card was taken in natural light. I like how it looks much more than when I use my light tent and lights. I want to add some subtle props in the background soon...I am working on this. I managed to get the background "unfocused" which is the look I was hoping to achieve!!

Come and play along with us at Seize the Sketch.

Hello Dear Friend {Card Concept, Art Impressions & Seize the Sketch}

Good morning friends! Today I am sharing a card I made for a couple of challenges. The first challenge is Seize the Sketch! We have a great sketch for you to try, and I hope you will come and play along with us!!! I am also playing along with the Art Impressions stamps...they have a Girlfriend's challenge on where they want two or more "people" on the card front. I am also linking up with the Card Concept and creating a card in the "Clean and Layered" style. We are looking for umbrella's for the Card Concept...come and play along.

One of my favourite things to do is colour. When There She Goes stamps closed up, I was pretty sad and pushed colouring to the side. Luckily for me, I have had the chance to get my Copics out lately and later this week you will see MANY more coloured projects from me. It is so soothing being able to colour. My friend, Karen Day, has turned me onto AI Stamps. I actually have a few in my stash from a couple of years ago and it is so nice to play with them again.

A great way to add some interest to your card is to paper piece a part of the stamp and then have it stick "outside" of your main image. My umbrella is paper pieced and then popped up on dimensionals to give it a more realistic look.

Playing along with CASE this Sketch! I loved Gayatri's fun sketch and tried to use some stencils and inks but I decided to go "old school" and ink up a new My Favorite Things stamp set.

Spring Break Frivolity! {TAWS, CTD, MFT & FTL}

Well my first day of Spring Break was HIGHLY productive! I had a blast; inking up some fun new stamp sets and playing along with a couple of challenges.

This first card I used the sketch from the Fall to Layout and the colours from The Colour Throwdown. I was also inspired by the BIC Challenge and played along-so I used an Alley Way Stamp!

For my next card, I played along with the BIC Challenge again and also used the colours from The Colour Throwdown again. The sketch above is one I found at My Favorite Things!

Seize the Sketch #7 & The Ribbon Carousel {Just Because Gift Set}

Good morning!!! We have an awesome sketch by Jen Nelson this week at Seize the Sketch!! I loved working with it and I know you will too! I am also sharing this card for the current Ribbon Carousel Fall/Halloween Theme Challenge. Go link up!

This month's theme is Fall anHalloween!

The fabulous Mona Pendleton from My Favorite Things is sponsoring Seize the Sketch #7 and she provided the team with her beautiful stamps and dies. She is also providing this prize for our winner of Sketch #7. Woo-hoo! Just look at what you could win!

I got the opportunity to play with this beautiful set and I created a Fall themed "Just Because Gift Set". I wanted to use some burlap ribbon, some Fall colours and I took a more clean-lined approach to my card this week. It was nice to use some of my designer paper scraps too!

Mona Pendleton Designs products are a fun and versatile collection of stamps, dies and stencils that may be purchased at https://www.mftstamps.com/
