CHECK MEOW-T! {Art Impressions Design Team}

Happy Halloween! Wow, October 31st is here and I am on my way to work. I am a primary school teacher and today is a very special day to my students. We will be enjoying a costume parade and a class Halloween party! I wanted to share two cards I made using the super hilarious set called Check Meowt Set (Sku#4522)Doesn't she look pleased with herself!? Coming up with a costume as an adult is tough stuff.

I have just discovered Project Life cards and I am using them today on my cards. They are the main "rectangles" for my images. I also love that the AI sentiments fit into my oval punches! BONUS!!

Supplies Used:
Papers: Early Espresso (SU!), Project Life Cards, the designer paper is from my scrap bin
Inks: Copics, Memento Tuxedo Ink, Early Espresso Ink (SU!)
Tools: Large Oval Punch and Scallop Oval Punch (SU!)

I wish you and yours a happy and safe Halloween!

CASE this Sketch {Joyous Season}

Good morning! Although we are only one day away from Halloween, I just HAD to make a Christmas card today. One of my favourite Christmas "symbols" is the poinsettia. Again, I love flowers and the bold Cherry Cobbler by Stampin' Up is my favourite paper to use when making my poinsettias.

A few weekends ago, I picked up some card fronts from Simple Stories. These are cut to fit an A2 card. I loved the patterns of the papers and the poinsettia paper caught my eye right away. So I went to work and created the card using today's sketch. The paper had a lot of small dots on the greenery, so that represents all the dots in the sketch. This was such a simple card to throw together.

My poinsettia was created using the retired 5 petal punch. All you need to do is to punch out two flowers and layer them on top of each other. Then using the Boho Blossom Punch (also retired) punch out the largest flower and the smallest flower. Then I use dimensionals between each "bloom" to give the poinsettia some dimension. Then punch out a 5 petal bloom from Old Olive paper and add one half to the side of the poinsettia to be the "leaves". I adhere the green part with a glue dot.

Here is the sketch at CASE this Sketch...I hope you will come and play along with us this week!

Merry Monday #132 {Neutral Snowflakes}

Hooray! I am happy to be hosting the Merry Monday Challenge today! I have taken some time off from designing for the team and so it was nice to get back into the Christmas swing of things! I really do enjoy making Christmas cards. The challenge this week is to use Snowflakes, Dry Embossing and Neutral colours. I hope you can play along with us!

I went pretty simple with my card and used grays, black and white. The sentiment is from MFT and the snowflakes are from Lil'Inker (I think). I added a sequin to the middle of the two flakes, so it shines. The embossed folder is from Darice and is one if my favourites.

Come and play along with us at Merry Monday!

Sugar Sketch #15 {What's Mew?"}

I absolutely LOVE this clever sketch that we have up at the SugarPea Designs blog! I used it for my card but had to tweak it a bit to fit my image.

I wanted to play with the adorable set called 'What's Mew"! I love how adorable that wee kitty and the little girl are together...it is a breeze to colour and the sentiments are "purrr"fect!

SugarPea Designs & Retro Sketches {Give Thanks}

Give-Thanks---Oct-Challenge-Theme

Today we have a brand new theme challenge over at SugarPea Designs of Give Thanks! You are welcome to make a festive Thanksgiving card or a regular thank you card! I used the sketch over at Retro Sketches. I played with the sweet stamp set called "Teacher's Pet".

 Store--Teacher's-Pet

I wanted to create my own background, using the stamps from the set. I positioned all the smaller images on a larger clear block and then inked them all at once in black ink. Then I stamped onto my kraft paper. It made a quick and easy background for my card.

A clean and simple thank you card for my stash.

This week I am excited to announce the addition of one more designer! Please welcome, Maura (aka Beesmom) to the team! Maura has consistently played at The Challenge and I love her inspiring work! Maura does not have a blog but uses a Splitcoast Stampers Gallery to share her work. I asked her to share a bit about herself! This is what she said...

About 7 years ago, a good friend of mine asked if I wanted to join a card-making club with fellow teachers from my school.  I thought to myself, hmmm, not so sure about the card-making, but it would be great to do something fun with my colleagues.  Little did I know… I loved the time with friends, but fell head over heels in love with card-making, and as they say….. the rest is history!  (Can you say, “addiction”?)

Welcome to the team, Maura! The designers have created inspiring work to get your creative juiced flowing! Have fun!
