Cardibilities #54 {Thank You}

Time for another week at Cardibilities!  This week's sketch is super versatile!  I chose to ink up a an old favourite of mine called "For All You Do". This set is retiring at the end of May! I hope you get the chance to join us for the next two weeks! 

I choose to work with Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and Lucky Limeade. The flowers have some pearls in the centers and I used the Scallop trip border punch for my trim in the middle. The designer paper is from the In Colour Designer Paper Pack.  I embossed the bottom of the card with my dots folder. A quick and simple thank you card for my stash!

Picture Perfect Creations and Hand Stamped Sentiments

This week has been fabulous for me!  On Spring Break, creating furiously, trying so hard to play with all the challenges I love to visit and sometimes just do not get the chance to play!!  I noticed as I was setting up this post, that this is post 500 for me!  WOW!  I cannot believe that in 2 years I have posted 500 times...does that seem incredible?  Maybe it is just me! :D

Tonight...or should I say- this morning, I made a card for the current colour challenge at the Picture Perfect Creations.  I suspect a goodly portion of my 500 posts have been given over to colour challenges...I do LOVE them!!

The colours for the PPC Challenge this week are:

I wanted to create something springy and was also inspired by the Handstamped Sentiments Challenge...they are all about Easter and Spring this week with their Inspiration Challenge.  My pal Anne-Marie is one of their designers, so I just had to play along!!!

Inspired by the photos on the HSS site, I created a card with a window sill and flower box...in the flower box are some spring flowers, punched out with my Itty Bitty Punch Pack...they are really blooming! LOL!  Oh, and I added some major bling to each blossom...each flower has a little gemstone in it...I used the For All You Do set for the Artichoke Stems.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch and the Colour Throwdown

Today, my sweetie went to the lake with a pal which left me some time to play with my pals!  I saw the PPA Sketch this week and was instantly motivated! Plus with LeAnne's awesome colours at the Colour Throwdown, I knew I had to play!

The base of my card is Marina Mist.  I stamped the flowers from "For All You Do" in Marina Mist and then "kissed" them with the dotted stamp that comes with the set, in Not Quite Navy.  I had to sub in Certainly Celery for Wasabi, I have that ink on order!

Here is my card from the other angle.  I really enjoyed playing with these two challenges.  It was so great to have some crafting time!  It seems to be very rare that I actually get the chance to play!

I Went for It!!!

I have wanted to play along with Arielle's Colour Q Challenge for a while now...I seem to always be without one of the colours she is looking for but this week I decided to play along with or without the right colours!!  I was stumped as to what kind of card to make.  Wow...it was a real challenge with these colours but I decided to go for it!

I used my new Awash with Flowers stamp set and inked up the flowers in Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron and Only Orange.  The leaves are stamped in Certainly Celery.  The Awash with Flowers set is available to order in April and then won't be available again until July.

A Cool Discovery!

There I was tonight, creating my card for the current Splitcoast Stamper's Sketch and Colour Challenge. I pulled out my favourite set, For All You Do. I love using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig with this set, so I can line up the flowers with the stems.

Well I decided to stamp my flower...

...and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig again, I stamped another flower on top of the flower I just stamped! Whoa! I am out of control here! LOL! And the effect was very cool...at least...I think it was!

When I stamped the flower in the ink and then stamped the first time, I then did not reink for the second layer to the flower, so it looked kinda wispy...(it does look wispy right?)...anyway, I LOVED the effect and decided to create my whole card using this technique... "The Lesley Overlay"! (Hehehe!)

There are lots of talented ladies out there who probably discovered this way before me...but I was so excited about my discovery, I just had to share!

Easter Card for the Colour Throwdown #83

This card was made for the current Colour Throwdown. I decided to make an Easter card for my Mother in Law. She is such a lovely MIL and I wanted to create something special. I used the Kissing Technique on my flowers from the "For All You Do" set. What a fun technique! I have to try it out more! The flowers were stamped in Saffron (my substitute Marigold) and then "Kissed" the stamp with Melon Mambo. I cut out the leaves with my Little Leaves Die and also used the Big Shot to cut out my scalloped circle with the Scallop Circles #2 die. I made the white circle with my Circle Scissors Plus. I LOVE it!The ribbon is from Sale-A-Bration last year and is So Saffron. I paper pierced the scallops in the scallop circle. The sentiment is from the Occasions Mini set called "Well Scripted". My Designer Paper is from the Good Neighbours Paper Pad, FREE with a $65 purchase!

Diva Coffee Break Design Sketch Challenge #165

I made this card for the Diva Coffee Break Sketch Challenge. I am obviously really into the Real Red this weekend! I wanted to make a card for my friend, who is such a good pal and fellow stamper. We talk "stamping" all the time and I enjoy our lengthy conversations about all that SU! has to offer!!! I inked up my Eastern Blooms set and my Teeny Tiny Wishes Set. I was on a roll and made another card with the same colours. I did a 3 3/4" square again with the scallop trim border punch. Then I inked up the "For All You Do" stamp set once again...I love that set. Used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig on both cards to help with perfect placement of the flowers.Thanks for stopping by!

Masking Class

What a week! I have wanted to craft but have been so busy working...the time just flies by! My goal tonight after work is to make some cards and to catch up on some challenges. I need to get to the Colour Throwdown and the OCC sketch...they are both calling my name! LOL!

This first card was made at the Masking Class and uses the "For All You Do" Stamp set. We masked the flowers and then stamped over them with the French Script Background Stamp. The colours are Sage Shadow, Ruby Red and Basic Black. I also used the Stamp-a-ma-jig...very first time I have really used it and I can see why it is so great. What a difference lining up the sentiments and the images. It was really simple.Here is one of the cards we made at my Masking Class on Tuesday night. I used the Neighbourhood Stamp set that is FREE in the SAB Mini. I love this set!!! My colours are Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive. Love that shiny satin ribbon! I am so happy that I ordered it in that colour. I paired the Neighbourhood set with the "Bella's Bloom" set which is so sweet and used the sentiment from it. Happy Valentine's Day

Here are some of the bookmarks I made for my class. I teach grade 2/3 and tomorrow we are going to be having our Valentine's Party. I made one for each student with their name on it. I didn't show those ones due to privacy issues. Sure hope they like them!I am teaching a Masking Technique Class on Tuesday night and here is one of the cards we will be making. I just received a new order and I had to play with this gorgeous ribbon! It is the Satin Ribbon from the Mini Catalogue in the colour Old Olive. It ties beautifully! I also used my new to me "Cottage Wall" DSP. Wow...why didn't I order that earlier!

Off to spend the afternoon with my sweetie. We are going for a walk, to enjoy the sunshine.

Colour Throwdown #79 and Stampin' 411 Sketch #138

This card was made for two challenges. I LOVE the colour combo at Colour Throwdown this week. We had to use Blush Blossom, Sage Shadow and Riding Hood Red. I had to sub in Ruby Red for Riding Hood Red. Forgot how much I love Ruby Red Ink! Sage is one of my favourite colours!! The other Challenge is the Stampin' 411 Sketch Challenge. I have missed their deadline twice in the past few weeks and so I just HAD to make a card tonight and link it up! I just love their great sketches!I used my Fifth Avenue Florals Stamp set with the En Francais background stamp for the centre of the card. The sentiment is from "For All You Do". I wanted to try to stretch myself, I don't know if I stretched in the right way but I had fun playing! I added some of the pretty Organza ribbon as an accent above the sentiment.

I don't usually stamped on the card face and I did with a flower from my 5th Ave Set...scary for me...and I have been trying to "sponge" more and I like the softer look. Hard for me to do, because I love making cards with clean lines. I hope you are spending your weekend stamping. I am going to try!

Stampin' Royalty and SPCC #31

I made this card for the SPCC Colour Challenge to use Apricot Appeal, Real Red and Pretty in Pink. This card is also for the Stampin' Royalty Challenge to make a One Layer Card. Both of these challenges stumped me at first, so I thought why not combine them?

I tried another new technique that I have been putting off for a while. The Chalkboard Technique. I used my Stampin' Pastels (chalks) to colour in the flowers. The flowers are from "For All You Do" and "God's Beauty". Basically you stamp a solid image in Whisper White Craft Ink and then colour over top of it with the Chalks. The chalks cling to the craft ink and it dries instantly, it is a simple technique and lots of fun. I tried it on black paper and the effect was really pretty. The sentiment was also stamped in Craft ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder and a heat gun. I use white satin ribbon at the top of the card to hightlight the other white on the card.

This card was so simple to make, the planning took the most time!

I hope you like it. It is my first Chalkboard Technique Card but not my last!! I think I am hooked!

Colour Throwdown and Diva Coffee Break Designs (Sketch)

This card was made for the current Colour Throwdown #76 Colour Challenge and the current Diva Coffee Break Designs Sketch Challenge #161. I am working towards getting some Melon Mambo but it is not in my stash yet! So I had to improvise and use an old In Colour Favourite from way back...Puerly Pomegranate. I loved this colour and it was great to be able to use it again. It is such a juicy ink pad!I had one piece of So Saffron left in my stash! Oh horror! (Luckily UPS is delivering today!). The sketch asked for a rectangular shape on the side of the card but I went with Ovals. I hope that is ok!! The flower is from the set called Eastern Blooms (111626) which I have not used forvever! I love the way the flowers stamp in this set, so pretty! The leaves are from a retired Hostess Set called "God's Beauty". The ribbon is SO Saffron 5/8" Grosgrain which I received from the Sale-A-Bration sale last year. I love it and need to use it more! The sentiment is from the set called "For All You Do"(115360). It was a challenge getting a bright enough picture, the sunlight is brightly streaming into my kitchen and the flash doesn't go on when that happens. I will try to take a better photo tonight.

JUGS #10 (Sketch Challenge)

As soon as I saw this sketch today for the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog, I knew I wanted to play and try out some of my new SU! Sets. I pulled out some Mellow Moss, Whisper White and a piece of DSP I had stashed away that had a So Saffron tone to it. The sketch was really inspiring and I decided to flip it.

Here is the card I created: I inked up my "For All You Do" Set and my "Kind and Caring Thoughts" set. The branch is a SU! sizzlits die that I used with my Big Shot. I added some gold brads to the centre of the flowers and three to the side of the card as the sketch indicated. I am back into using brads lately, I am loving it. I cut out each flower and popped them up on the card face for dimension.
