Stained Glass Technique {Verve, MOJO & CTD}

Happy Friday! It's me again, back with another card! The weekend is my time to craft and I have been saving up all week! I have been challenging myself to use techniques! Tonight I tried the "Stain Glass" technique. I was inspired to use the MOJO Sketch, the Verve Inspiration Challenge and the colours at The Colour Throwdown.

 

To achieve the stain glass look:

1. Choose a stamp with lots of "space" to colour.
2. Heat emboss the stamp on vellum with white embossing powder.
3. Turn the vellum over and colour on the BACK of the image. It is very important to NOT colour on the actual white embossing as it will hurt your Copic marker.
4. Fussy cut the images out and add to your card.

Friday Mashup #10 -Sending Warm Fuzzies

This week's Friday Mashup is a good challenge because I am always in need of Get Well cards!  I have had a busy week with work and with life.  I spent three days of the week, swimming after work, trying to get into better shape!  I also have a lot of emails to catch up on, I just have not had the chance to reply!! I promise to get to them soon!  It is report card season I am going to be on the computer all weekend writing them!!  But as soon as they are done, I will be back into the swing of things!

This week for the Mashup Challenge, you are welcome to:

1. Create a project with soft texture...fabric, felt, even cotton balls (ribbon doesn't count). 
2. Create a Get Well project.
3. Or "Mash it Up!" and create a Get Well project using a Soft Texture!

 

I don't own any fabric and so I decided to just make a Get Well Card.  One of the new Summer items I have not used yet is the new Flower Garden Embossing Folder.  I actually embossed some velum with the folder and then turned the velum over, colouring the image from behind.  I used the colours Regal Rose, River Rock and Early Espresso.  I have always wanted to try this technique, what do you think?

Card Club- Wednesday, February 23 and Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge

I have my Stamper's 6 Club on Wednesday and this week we will be learning a brand new technique called "Black Magic".  This technique is also refered to as the "Chalkboard" technique because it uses Chalks/Pastels on black or dark paper.

I used the great sketch from Stamping 411 for the first card I made with the black magic technique!!  I love the Stamping 411 sketch challenge site because they have so many great ideas, tips and simple sketches that allow you to be creative!!!!

Here is the card I created!  I elongated the panel and change the height of the card.  I used the wonderful "Just Believe" set for both of my cards, the solid image makes it the perfect choice for the Black Magic Technique.  The Old Olive Designer Paper is from the Bold Brights Designer Paper Pack.

Paper Players Challenge #20-A Sketch from ME!

This week at the Paper Players we have a new sketch for you to try, created by me!  Yippee! I love the "Holiday Line-Up" stamp set and recently purchased it.  This set is so adorable and offers some great colouring ooportunities.  But if you are like me and crazy busy all the time, sometimes colouring is not always an option.

So for my card this week I decided to feature a technique called Spotlighting.  I found the technique on the wonderful stamping site called Splitcoast Stampers.  Just click HERE to see how to spotlight an image and give it a try yourself!

A Three Challenge Card!

I made this card for THREE challenges! Woo-hoo! I used the Colour Challenge at "Pals Paper Arts" which was Garden Green, Celery and Kraft. This also works for the "Stampin' Royalty Challenge" to use all greens and a little neutral if needed! I also used paper piercing on the tag where the sentiment is, to add some detail! I got the idea to paper pierce the tag from the "Crazy for Challenges" Blog which is calling for Paper Piercing on cards! The sentiment is stamped in White Craft Ink and then I used White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my heatgun! To achieve the marbeled look on the Medallion image I did two techniques called "Thumping" and 'Misting". I inked up the Medallion Stamp in Celery and thumped it with my Garden Green Marker. Then I lightly misted it with water and stamped. I love how the Medallion looks! This is the first time I have tried this technique!Here is my finished card! Clean and simple! Thanks for stopping by! Stampin' 411 Colour Challenge and Sketch Challenge

This card was made for the current Stampin' 411 Sketch Challenge and the Stampin' 411 Colour Challenge. I used the set called "Always" from the main Catalogue and paired with the "With Sympathy" sentiment from the set "Teeny Tiny Wishes". I also added a Paper Flower I made. I will be offering a Technique Class on how to make this flower. Please email me for more information or visit my Stampin' Up Demonstrator Website.The colours for the challenge are Brocade Blue, Certainly Celery and So Saffron. I love this colour combo, it is one of my favourites and I need to use it more! Once again I think I have missed the sketch challenge deadline for the challenge but I played along never the less!!!

Pink Elephant Sketch Challenge #46 and Creative Card Crew DT Call (Anything Goes)

This card was made for the Creative Card Crew Challenge "Anything Goes"! I am also submitting this card for the Creative Card Crew Design Team Call. This card was also made for the Pink Elephant Sketch Challenge #46. I really loved the sketch and wanted to break into some of my new paper. I actually opened and cut into my SU! "To the Nines" designer paper. Here is a better picture to show off the finished inside. I love that Flowers in Silhouette stamp!The sentiment is from All Holidays and I inked it up in White Craft Ink and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Then I used Chocolate Ink and my Flower in Silhouette stamp, also from SU!, and stamped it over the sentiment. Then I used a clean cloth to wipe away the brown ink from the embossed sentiment, thus doing a "Emboss Resist" technique! Yeah me!!! I need to challenge myself out of my comfort zone and do more techniques like this!!!Is the card too dark? I thought it looked like Chocolate and my friend in Vancouver LOVES chocolate and hopefully she will love this card too! I was not happy with the strip at the bottom of the card, maybe I should have used the Flower stamp along it as well. I inked all the Kraft paper with Chocolate ink and a sponge. I added some twine to the bottom to continue to earthy feel of this card.
