Freshly Made Sketches {Just Because}

Happy Wednesday! We have a brand new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches from Jennifer Brum and I LOVE it. I used a stamp set from MFT Stamps that is retired and a sentiment set from Simon Says Stamp.

Are you intimidated by the slice through the paper? I was at first but then I discovered a little trick!

1. Cut your top layer to be 4" x 5"-cut 2 layers in the colours you want.
2. Then put both pieces together on your cutter and slice the diagonal through it.
3. Then line up the pieces on your card as you would like!
4. There should be a 1/4" space between the pieces now...I hope that makes sense

The Challenge #34 {Yellow, Orange & Green}

Hello and welcome to The Challenge! Every week I host a new challenge on my blog and this week we have a fun and summery "Colour Challenge" to inspire you! We hope it does!

For my card, I decided to use a stamp set from Verve called "Kind Words" and I paired it with the "Vintage Roses" set from Altenew. I have been watercolouring a lot lately and I decided to add some water to the floral images. I am playing along with a couple of other challenges today! Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Let's Get Sentimental, Altenew's Tunisia Inspiration Challenge and Verve Floral Inspiration Challenge. 

 

I added some neutral twine to my card and used a background die from MFT Stamps and their Stitched Rectangle Die to mimic the design in the Altenew Inspiration photo. I thought the background die looks like the inspiration and texture. I hope it worked!

This month we are honoured to have Sandie Munro with us as our Featured Designer! I absolutely LOVE her CAS (clean and simple) design.

TGIF Challenges {Sketch} & Verve {Thinking of You}

I found a new challenge and wow, is their design team talented! Lots of eye candy over at TGIF Challenges and this week they have a sketch! I loved the sketch and couldn't wait to get inky! I inked up an old Stampin' Up set of mine called Growing Green. This set is long retired but one of my favourites. I inked the "leafy" bit with Copics and then softened the look by creating a frame with vellum. The sentiment is from Verve.

I embossed the background and created a flag piece down the middle instead of the "flag". I hope that it ok! I stamped some French Script in Wisteria Wonder Ink on the purple cardstock and sponged the sides. I love these label dies and I am sad they are retiring. Thank you to the TGIF for encouraging me to dust them off and to use them!

Stained Glass Technique {Verve, MOJO & CTD}

Happy Friday! It's me again, back with another card! The weekend is my time to craft and I have been saving up all week! I have been challenging myself to use techniques! Tonight I tried the "Stain Glass" technique. I was inspired to use the MOJO Sketch, the Verve Inspiration Challenge and the colours at The Colour Throwdown.

 

To achieve the stain glass look:

1. Choose a stamp with lots of "space" to colour.
2. Heat emboss the stamp on vellum with white embossing powder.
3. Turn the vellum over and colour on the BACK of the image. It is very important to NOT colour on the actual white embossing as it will hurt your Copic marker.
4. Fussy cut the images out and add to your card.

Viva la Verve & The Colour Q {Viva la Kitty}

Today I am playing along with Verve Stamps {Viva la Verve} and the Colour Q. When I was taking the photo of this card, Penney decided to get into my light box for her closeup. LOL! 

All settled for her big moment.

For my card I used Bloom and Grow from Verve Stamps and Birthday to You Plain Jane. The colours at The Colour Q are some of my favourite and I just had to get inky!
