Virginia Lu made me get messy!
It was an adventure but I did it...and CASE this Sketch helped me get it done!
After watching a couple of videos online, I went about inking my paper and spritzing with water. Oops! Too much! Made a mess. Take 2. So I tried again...ink, water, stencil. YUCK. I even used my poor neglected heat gun. Yep, it was not pretty.
Enter Take 3. NO water. Duh. I mean...I am a beginner here so who am I kidding. Yep, I went ahead and just used ink with the stencil but now I have:
1. A few pieces of paper-mangled with ink and water
2. One melted stencil...I obviously need to take a refresher course on heat gun application.
3. Lots of ink everywhere. *grin*
But even after all that...I managed to make a card. It is not "spectacular" by any means in the realm of stenciled cards but it is a start and I am kinda proud. Yes...I feel elated and I actually want to try this again; mangled paper and all...
Virginia did!
Lesley, I love the story behind this darling card! I too have been wanting to do a little stenciling and you have just given me the boost to give it a try. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! Love the colors and technique.
ReplyDeleteHaha, next you'll be making an even bigger mess with reinkers and embossing paste...
ReplyDeleteLove your card, though! I've been trying out the new Tim Holtz spritzer tool with my Promarkers. That was fun, too!
Well your messy is gorgeous Lesley!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those are my fears Lesley and why I haven't ventured into that arena yet!! Your card is as pretty as can be tough! Can't wait to see what you do with your other pretty little works of art!
ReplyDeleteLove your outcome! So pretty! And your story sounds like something I myself would go through! lol Though, we all gotta start somewhere, right?! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, this is gorgeous! I love your fabulous take on the sketch!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your struggles and failures (which ended up NOT be failures at all!)...I usually end up throwing away mine, they are so bad...but your persevered and came out on top! Love your card...a lesson to be learned by you! Thanks Lesley!
ReplyDeleteThat's the trick to stenciling -- none! :) You can always end up with something awesome....
ReplyDeleteWell done! Darling card!
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOL....I am so glad that I made you make a mess (and perhaps I even helped YOU to contribute to our Canadian economy $$)! This is one very elegant CAS card, Lesley! I love the two tone background from the stencil. Aren't Distress Inks FUN!? And that stencil....I was reluctant to jump on the trend and it looks like there is no stopping of it now. Well done on your first try! I can only imagine the beautiful outcome that come out of your creative play! Thanks so much for playing Virginia's View challenge! xo
ReplyDeleteyahooo! Aren't the distress inks so much fun?!!!!! Looks awesome Lesley!
ReplyDeleteLesley, admitting here that the stencil trend has me nervous. Your beautiful card is pushing me to give it a go!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a stunning card! I love how you pulled everything together to make it work so flawlessly!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW, Lesley. Love every single detail on it. Thanks for playing along at CAS(E) this sketch and hope to see you again. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is THE ultimate sympathy card. Whether Virginia made you do it, or not.
