SugarPea Designs {Sugar Sketch}

Hello crafty friends! I am enjoying Week 2 of my Spring Break. I have been sleeping in and resting. I didn't realize how worn out I was! I managed to get crafty on the weekend and I made a baby card for the current SugarPea Designs Sugar Sketch.

I started with the designer paper and I let it do all the work for me. I stamped the onesie onto some designer paper and cut it out. Nice and easy card for my stash!

Here is the newest SugarSketch! You should come and join us! You have a chance to win a $75 gift card to our online store! Yay!

The Challenge #65 {Happy Birthday, Kim Heggins!}

Hello and Welcome to Week Three at The Challenge! Wow, this month is zooming by! After taking a couple of weeks off to rest, I am back into the crafty swing of things and it felt good to ink up some new goodies. This week we have an Inspiration Challenge and we hope you will join us! It's pink and loads of fun!

Are you looking for last week's winner? Please CLICK HERE.

Each week we have a fun challenge for your to try!!! We do a different style of challenge each week! We like to mix things up and keep them fresh!

Here is the monthly rotation:
Week 1-Sketch
Week 2-Colours
Week 3-Photo Inspiration
Week 4-Masculine Photo Inspiration
Week 5-Wild Card (a surprise!)

I made this card to help celebrate a dear friend and teammate...Kim Heggins! Yesterday was her birthday and her friend, Kylie is hosting a birthday hop in her honour! Congrats Kim and Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoyed a marvelous day!

I obviously was inspired by the pink flowers! I kept my design simple. I stamped the roses and the leave in Distress Ink onto Crafter's Companion watercolour paper. I REALLY like this paper. I have tried Ranger and some paper pads I bought from Michael's. The Crafter's Companion paper comes in full 8.5" x 11" sheets. Perfect for making single layer cards if you want! It is smooth on each side. I think it is the best bang for my buck.

The design team have created some inspiration to get you in the crafting mood! Come and join us! Our weekly winner will be our next Guest Designer! So come and join the fun!

Reverse Confetti {A Personal Journey}

Edited to add:
(I am so thankful and excited! I must confess...I was SHOCKED! I never win anything! LOL! This really made my day! Thank you so much RC Team for the wonderful honour!)

What a weekend! Last night I sang my heart out at the Legion with my hubby, my father in-law and his girlfriend. It felt SO good to sing. It was karaoke night!

I used to sing professionally on stage throughout my 20's...but I became unwell at 29. The sickness (cancer) called for surgery and left me with a damaged leg. It was melanoma...so if you are reading this...be sure to cover up and wear sunblock. A tiny black mole on my leg literally changed my life...who knew melanoma could be so deadly. Eleven years ago, I had no clue!

Anyway, I can still sing with a damaged leg but performing, wearing those fun character shoes and those vivacious dresses, is behind me now. I actually would love to sing with a small group; like a trio. I miss belting out those old Ella Fitzgerald or Doris Day tunes...Singing last night, brought back a lot of good memories. Sigh...

But then today I got crafty and I let all of that creativity out! Ha! After months of scrimping and saving (the Canadian dollar is worth about 75 cents US), I picked up a couple of stamps from Reverse Confetti. I have met the owner, Jen at the CHA a couple of years ago. She is a lovely person and I am happy to finally delve into her products. I could not resist the roses. I LOVE floral stamps! I played along with their current sketch challenge and I was inspired by the pretty graphic over at Inspired by All the Little Things. SO I used the colours in the photo on my card...the inspiration was so springy and fresh.

See this photo below...this is what I looked like one year ago...

In the spirit of sharing, I just had to share this photo of my hubby and I. My mom took it on her old phone camera so it is not a good quality shot but it shows the weight loss I have achieved. Last week I hit 67.5 lbs lost...my leg is still mangled but I am feeling more like me again. That counts for a lot! I have 27 more pounds to go and I will have reached my goal! My parents are so happy to have "me" back again...it was like I went missing for about 11 years!

This post is all over the map but what I am trying to say is this...no matter what happens to you in life, you are in charge and you can overcome any disability. It took me 11 years to figure that out. I feel so happy now and back on track...who knows...maybe I will make it back on stage again, one day soon...
