Seize the Sketch #19 {Wheely Sweet Friend} & CASE Study Design Team Call

Today I am sharing a card for the next sketch at Seize the Sketch and I am also auditioning for a design team position over at CASE Study. The assignment is to share a design from a designer that inspires you and then show how you would "CASE" it. It was hard to narrow down who to CASE but one of my favourite card makers is Cindy Lovell. She is on my Card Concept team and I just love everything she makes. I was inspired by her card below...you can find it HERE.

Card by Cindy Lovell

I was inspired to use some fun designer paper. I usually use simple patterns but felt inspired to use something a little more masculine. I added a simple pennant and keep my images clean and simple as well because I wanted the sentiment to stand out like Cindy's. My image comes from a Stampin' Up set called "Cycle Celebration" and I loved the sentiment that came with it. It is actually a birthday set and so much fun!!

I am auditioning for a position at CASE Study because I want to stretch myself as a card maker and I want to learn how to improve my crafting skills. Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and to see my work.

I hope you will join us at Seize the Sketch! Our challenge is on for 2 weeks and the team has a lot of inspiration to share!!!

Viva la Verve {Mother's Day Wishes}

One of my weaknesses when it comes to stamping and card making is using flowers on my cards. I love them! I love to colour them with Copics, fussy cut them and pop them up. Flowers make me happy! I love to make all styles of cards...really I do! But there is just something about flowers and lacy doilies!

When I saw Stacey's awesome sketch at Viva la Verve...I knew I had to get out my Verve Stamps and play along! I inked up the flowers and coloured them with Copics. I used the set called "Joyful Blooms".

Have a happy Sunday! I am off to a card class and I can hardly wait to get there! Stamping for fun is always so relaxing!

Purple Onion Designs Day 2 {Make a Wish}

We are on Day 2 of a fabulous stamp release at Purple Onion Designs! Today I am sharing a card I created using Wishing & A Beautiful Day! Sentiment Set.

To make the sky for my card, I used Copic markers and left little pockets of white by colouring over a small piece of scalloped circle. The scallop circle acted like a mask.

Purple Onion Designs {New Stamp Collection Reveal}

Happy Friday! Today is the start of a beautiful day because there is a brand new stamp collection being released at Purple Onion Designs! I absolutely LOVE the cute images I got to play with and the team has created projects that are sure to inspire!

Today I am sharing a card I made using Willa and Chloe. That is the name of the sweet bunnies...and I stamped the balloon set and coloured it with Copics. Then I coloured the bunnies and cut them out and popped them up. I wanted to keep my card clean and simple.

Hello Dear Friend {Card Concept, Art Impressions & Seize the Sketch}

Good morning friends! Today I am sharing a card I made for a couple of challenges. The first challenge is Seize the Sketch! We have a great sketch for you to try, and I hope you will come and play along with us!!! I am also playing along with the Art Impressions stamps...they have a Girlfriend's challenge on where they want two or more "people" on the card front. I am also linking up with the Card Concept and creating a card in the "Clean and Layered" style. We are looking for umbrella's for the Card Concept...come and play along.

One of my favourite things to do is colour. When There She Goes stamps closed up, I was pretty sad and pushed colouring to the side. Luckily for me, I have had the chance to get my Copics out lately and later this week you will see MANY more coloured projects from me. It is so soothing being able to colour. My friend, Karen Day, has turned me onto AI Stamps. I actually have a few in my stash from a couple of years ago and it is so nice to play with them again.

A great way to add some interest to your card is to paper piece a part of the stamp and then have it stick "outside" of your main image. My umbrella is paper pieced and then popped up on dimensionals to give it a more realistic look.

Hello and welcome to The Challenge. Every other week I post a card that I created and share the sketch with you. I have also included the sketch measurements so you can play along and make your own card from the sketch!

This week I am using an Art Impressions image. I LOVE colouring with my Copics and was happy to ink up this fun image. It was also nice to use some of the papers I have in my stash! Yep, love my polka dot papers!!! I kept the card clean-lined and hopefully fresh!

Remember, the Winner of this challenge is welcome to join me as a Guest Designer on the next Challenge.

Weekly Winners & a new TWIST to The Challenge!

Here are the winners for The Challenge #4...starting now, I would like to offer the Main Winner each week to be a Guest Designer for the 2nd week of my next sketch

As I mentioned before, it is really "challenging" for me to choose winners...I adore everyone's card and I know that each card is created from the heart! But I know as a card maker, I love the thrill of being highlighted at a challenge...and so I have chosen One Main "Winner" and a Top 3. I have also explained why I have chosen these cards.

My main Winner this week is:

I just could NOT resist Karen Day's ADORABLE Christmas card! Her colouring is soft and so pretty; combined with the fun striped paper and pretty shape for the sentiment, this was an all 'round winner in my book!! Congrats, Karen!!!

Karen, if you would like to join me as a Guest Designer for the next challenge, please email me by clicking the MAIL icon in the top right hand corner of my blog banner. It looks like a little envelope!

My Top 3 picks are (in alphabetical order):

There was something aboout Alli's card that really appealed to me. I loved the pretty, soft colours she used as well as the clean lines. The rectangle of vellum added a softness around the main panel that created a slight glow on the newsprint paper. Really lovely work!

Loved the fun colours and the wood veneer that Angie used on her clean and simple card! Did you see the way she stitched the flags at the bottom of the card...so cute and clever!

I love bold, bright colours and this card by Kimberly really jumped out at me in the linky! I loved the way she coloured the flowers and the embossed background looks so terrific as a backdrop for her card.

Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who played along. I will be back in one hour with a brand new sketch and challenge. Thanks for joining me and for playing along.

Viva la Verve & Mama Elephant {Baby Makes Three}

Playing along with a couple of challenges today! I got home from work and went straight to my craftroom to play along with a sketch at Viva la Verve and some colours from the inspiration photo at the Mama Elephant Inspiration Challenge.

I abolutely loved the colours in the inspiration photo and thought they would be perfect for the sweet Nursery Deco Set. I coloured the teddy bear with Copic markers and kept the card fairly simple. Added some yellow twine for an accent and a couple of pearls. This was a fun sketch and I loved putting this card together!

Have a Lovely Day {Card Concept, Curtain Call & Viva la Verve}

Good morning stamping friends. Today there is a brand new challenge over at The Card Concept. The amazing Lee Ann Barrett is off this week and so I am subbing in for her...taking her place for this challenge. The theme for the next two weeks is "Use an Umbrella"

I did not use the inspiration photo as a jumping off point for my card as I was SO inspired by the challenge over at the Curtain Call...which is Confetti. I loved the feel of the polka dots in the photo...being in larger circles...so I went hunting in my paper stash and came up with this pretty designer paper which had big blooms on it...I hope you can see the connection to the dots. I also used 3 different pattern papers, and some flags to "set off" the doily and umbrella. I also kept my card base white...like in the photo...so all the colours and designs would hopefully pop. I also used the fabulous sketch over at Viva la Verve. Love the lines of it...I am such a sucker for layers and elements!!!
