Scrapbook Essentials Challenge-A Sketch from ME!!

Welcome to another week at Scrapbook Essentials BC.  This week we have a sketch created by me!  In fact, starting today we will be doing 2 challenges per month instead of 4 so that means you have TWO WHOLE WEEKS to join us!!!

The sketch is REALLY simple and easy I hope!  I inked up a Pink Cat Studio Stamp that I have not used in SUCH a long time.  This sweet image is from the set "Tweet Plate".  If anyone is wishing to order any of the Pink Cat Studio stamps, please contact Stacey ASAP by clicking HERE.  An order will be placed once a minimum order is reached.

I used some new goodies from Stacey's STORE to make my card!!!!  The pattern paper is from Basic Grey and is called "Kissing Booth", it is so pretty!!!  I also used some Copics to colour the main image.  These are the colours I used below.

The circle is cut using the Lacey Circle Die from Spellbinders, also available in Stacey's online store!  The embossed pink paper was created using a new to me embossing folder that I found online in Stacey's store called "Tied Together" by Couture Creations.  The best thing about this embossing folder is it is 5x7"!! Now you can do the whole card front without any borders.

Merry Monday Challenge #5 and Blog Candy

Monday is here and so is the end of January! Five sketches down and five cards made for next Christmas!! This week I am pleased to have Wendy Aungst as my Guest Designer and I am also offering blog candy!!  The sketch this week is REALLY simple...feel free to use a smaller circle or a square. Change the sentiment spot and make it your own!  Please just make sure the sketch is still visible. Thanks!

Here is Wendy's amazing card!  I love those felt holly and berries! Such a sweet card Wendy!!  You can visit Wendy's blog by clicking HERE.

I also went with traditional colours for my card and this is what I came up with!  I inked up a Pink Cat Stamp and then used a sentiment from Stampendous. I just love that sentiment!  I used Garden Green DSP from my stash and paired it with Whisper White and Poppy Parade.  The elf is coloured with Copics and the circle is created from my Lacy Circle Nestability dies. I also got some gingham ribbon out and added that across my card!

Here is the Candy up for grabs...it is just a little something...for a chance to win the candy, please play along!  I will choose one random winner from all the participants of this week's challenge! What's Included: 3 sticker packs, some scraps of Designer paper (roughly 4" x 5"), some felt flowers.

Merry Monday Challenge #4 Winner and {Blog Candy Alert}

Happy Sunday! Wow, great Christmas cards last week!  I have been trying to keep the sketches simple so they are easy to mass produce.  I have to say, I am inspired by all the wonderful cards in the gallery-I have lots of new Christmas Card ideas!!! Thank you so much for the inspiration!

The winner for this week and my Guest Designer for February 6th is:

I love blue Christmas cards!  Nina's use of embossed designer paper and stamped images really created a frosty feeling on her card!  That snowflake is amazing and I love that she turned it into an ornament.  The rounded corners and the simple sentiment allowed that bold snowflake to take center stage!  Congratulations Nina!!!

Please email me Nina and I will send you the information for being my Guest Designer for February 6th.  Looking forward to it!!

Tomorrow I will have another simple sketch for you and last week's winner Wendy Aungst has created a gorgeous card with tomorrow's sketch!  I also have a surprise for the last challenge of the month. And yes, it MAY BE a little BLOG CANDY!!

Paper Players Sketch Challenge #80-From AM

This week at the Paper Players Challenge, the talented and fun lovin' Anne Marie Hile has an awesome sketch for you to try!

I wanted to try something different for me and that meant some different pattern papers and hopefully a shabby chic feel!  Did I succeed?  Shabby chic? My colours are Garden Green, Sage Shadow and Basic Gray.

Some FUN Challenges!!!

Wow, a week has flown by and I have been taking a wee break from stamping due to some life stuff that needed to be dealt with!  But I am now back and wanted to play with some challenges.  Here is my card!  I seem to be in a creative slump, this card took a long time to create!!!  But I had fun playing along and really was inspired by the awesome challenges below.

I decided to try the Sketch for You To Try Challenge:

And I also loved the challenge of the Color Throwdown Colors...I love that ornate bed frame and used an ornate style embossing folder for my background.

And there is a relatively new challenge out there created by pals called the Paper Lovin' Gals, and they are using this GREAT inspiration photo.  It is all about butterflies and flowers.  Hence the flowers and butterfly on my card!

Freshly Made Sketches #19-A Sketch by Jen Mitchell

Thank you to everyone who left me such kind messages regarding my dad. He is really doing well and recovering from the tests they gave him.  Today is Wednesday and that means another sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches team. Jen Mitchell is our hostess and she has come up with a square sketch that I love!

I dug through my stash of stamps, I have SO many of them and found some of my favourite Pink Cat images. This Enchanted Lily set is awesome and one that I used to use quite a bit!  I inked her up with my Memento Black Ink and she was coloured with some Copics.  Then sentiment is perfect and I will give this card to my dad to give to the lovely nurses who tended to him.

We hope that you will join Freshly Made Sketches this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

Merry Monday Challenge #4-{Merry Christmas}

Hello and welcome to another "Merry Monday".  We are on a roll and now this is my 4th Christmas card for 2012! Yippee! Thank you to everyone who has been playing along!  This week I am happy to introduce Jean Mackenzie.  Jean won Challenge #2 and now she is my Guest Designer this week.  Welcome jean!  Jean created an adorable Christmas card with the sketch! I love the music notes and the gold die cut.

Jean Mackenzie of Stampin Cos Its Fun

My card is below.  I decided to use my Poinsettia Spellbinder Die that I bought in November but only used ONCE! Yikes!  The paper paper is from my stash!  I used Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz and Very Vanilla. I hope you have the chance to join me this week!

My Dad

On Saturday my dad suffered a mild heart attack.  He was taken to hospital and today he had an angiogram.  After a couple of days of stress and waiting to find out what caused it, we just learned that he is ok. No surgery is needed, in fact he is wonderfully healthy.

I have been with my mom and sister, and have not had the chance to comment on any cards for Freshly Made Sketches or the Friday Mashup. I am sorry to have not had the chance to visit your blogs.

I just wanted to update family and friends and thank you for your thoughts. We had another family member who suffered a major heart attack in November and under went quadruple bypass surgery, so needless to say, I was pretty worried about my dad.

Thanks for stopping by!! I will be missing the Scrapbook Essentials Challenge this week.  I hope to play with my Freshly Made Team on Wednesday.

Hugs,
Lesley

**Edited to add: Thank you to all of my blogging friends, old and new. I appreciate your kind words of comfort and thoughtfulness. I am home now and off to bed. I am pooped!

Merry Monday Challenge #3 Winner and new Guest Designer

Wow! What a great week! I loved visiting your blogs to see what you created with my sketch. I was blown away with all of the awesome cards that were created.  Thank you for joining me in my little Christmas card making adventure! I am proud of all of us for getting one done per week!

This week's winner and my Guest Designer for January 30th is:

Wendy Aungst of WeeBeeStampin4Fun

I absolutely loved what Wendy did with the sketch!  The bright, fresh colours and her colouring is perfect!  I love the designer paper in the main panel at the back and the embossed panel.  The sweet little bow is the ultimate finishing touch!  An awesome card!  Congratulations Wendy!  Please email me at thepaperplayers at yahoo dot ca so we can discuss next week!

Tomorrow Guest Designer Jean and I will be revealing a brand new sketch!  Enjoy the last bit of your weekend.

The Paper Players Challenge #79-{CLEAN AND SIMPLE}

This week at the Paper Players, Jaydee has a wonderful challenge to use a Tag on your clean and simple card!  Over at Our Creative Corner Challenge, they have a pretty Inspiration Photo that is of a baby shower.  I took my inspiration from the photo in the form of colour and the floral elements, the sentiment is something that I thought would be perfect for a new life.

I inked up a set from Flourishes and used some designer paper in my stash!  The ribbon was a light pink but I coloured it with my coral coloured copic marker to match the pink in the photo.  The tag I created is a Sizzix Die Cut that I just picked up today.  I love the shape!  I hope you do too!  I also stamped the image again in Baja Breeze onto the light blue paper in the background.
We hope that you will join the Paper Players Challenge this week and head on over to see the great inspiration at OCC. Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

The Friday Mashup #42 {Love One Another} and My Favorite Things Sketch

I love the Friday Mashup Challenge because it means the weekend is here! Hooray for Friday! My teammates are sure great and they have created some gorgeous eye candy this week for Sassy Rita, our hostess this week!  She has chosen a perfect colour palette for Valentine's Day and a fun technique too!

  1. Make a project featuring "Paper Piercing".
  2. Or Make a project using the colors "Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red & Early Espresso".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project using the colors "Blushing Bride, Riding Hood Red & Early Espresso with some Paper Piercing" .
*Here is a link on how to do Paper Piercing Paper Piercing Tutorial

I decided to use the fun sketch over at My Favorite Things and made an A2 card instead of a square card.  I didn't have a non-holiday stamp of theirs (I need to remedy that), so I pulled out and dusted off an old favourite Penny Black stamp! I just love these mice! The sentiment comes from a Flourishes set.  The paper is My Mind's Eye "Love Me".

We hope that you will join the Friday Mashup Challenge this week!  Please be sure to visit the other DT Members to see their wonderful creations!

Freshly Made Sketches #18-A Sketch by Linda Callahan and the Colour Q

This week at Freshly Made Sketches, the fun loving Linda Callahan has a terrific sketch for us!  Last night I put the finishing touches on my card and then discovered I had NO batteries in my camera...ACK...they were done!  So I plugged in my charger and got up early this morning to take my pictures and get my card posted!

I was intrigued by the colours over at the Colour Q this week.  I don't think I have EVER used these colours together and I am not sure I did so very well but hey, I gave it a whirl!  This is the first time I have used Island Indigo! Thanks for the push Arielle!!
